The Twilight “Saga”
May 26, 2010
This was written by a person named “Intellectual Iris.” I did NOT write this, but I believe all of it 100% true. And, please, comment your opinions! ;D
Okay, so I’m against Twilight, New Moon, Breaking Dawn, Eclipse, and any other book or movie about vampires created by Stephanie Meyer. I did read Twilight and found it so uninteresting and unintelligent that I didn’t continue the series or see the movies. Now, I am a “Twilight Hater”, according to the people who read it and fell in love with it; but, they say that if I had read the book I would’ve loved it. No, I DID read the book and in my opinion they need to find some real literature, like Jane Austen or George Eliot books.
Stephanie Meyer has said that Edward and Bella have a better story than Romeo and Juliet and many other classic couples. Jane Austen is literary legacy, and Stephanie Meyer is becoming more and more famous all because of the Twilight books. Teens everywhere are reading them and becoming such fans that it has become almost all they talk about. Will Stephanie Meyer become as famous as Jane Austen? Let’s hope not for the sensible people’s sake.
I do understand that “Twilight Haters” do “bag” on the people that are absolutely in love with Twilight, but it’s not like the people who are so in love with it don’t “bag” on those of us who could care less whether or not people like it.
Now, vampires aren’t real. They just aren’t real, but let’s face it: if they were real, why on Earth would they sparkle? You read literature like Dracula and he doesn’t sparkle, but I guess that makes him inaccurate; right, Ms. Meyer? I mean they’re supposed to be just like us only dead, am I wrong here? They’re bloodthirsty and don’t normally fall in love with humans. It’s normally the humans they drink from. I mean, sparkling; really?
When Edward leaves Bella, she becomes an adrenalin-junkie. Don’t you think that when some girl’s boyfriend leaves her she might go jump off a cliff with no one to save her all because of these stories? I do, and I’m sure someday, if not now, it will happen, and Ms. Meyer, you better be prepared for a huge law suit.
Also, Edward is such a creep, it makes me sick. I am sorry I could not find gentler words, but he is. He comes into Bella’s room at night and he basically stalks her. I do not find that romantic at all, and I have no idea who could confuse that with true love. A boyfriend should not stalk his girlfriend, and if he does, it’s called harassment!
Now, to those who love it: please give me a legitimate answer as to why you love the “saga” other than a specific character’s name. Tell me why you hate a certain character other than because I just don’t like him or her. Please, enlighten me as to why you are so obsessed and believe that these are some of the best stories you have ever read.
I stand for classic literature and Twilight just isn’t it; I am NOT sorry to say. Romeo and Juliet, Pride and Prejudice, To Kill a Mockingbird, and so many others, are such classics and are recognized world-wide, and this Twilight fluff is just a mockery.
Thank you,
The Intellectual Iris
I really like her review. I am in the middle on this topic. I like the books but don’t think they are “all that and a bag of chips”. When I watched the first movie (I watched it before reading the book) I was looking forward to him being all hideous when in the sunlight. Talk about being dissappointed…. SPARKLY VAMPS!!! I don’t think so….
I’d much rather have the werewolf…. GO TEAM JACOB!! At least she got that much right.
